The Real German Chan

The original concept for Prawns of The Nutworld was as an animated tv show. To that end, this blog will now chronicle the process of achieving that goal. Read more to see my notes that will start all this. They are notes about the tv show that I converted for use for the novel writing competition, but they serve the purpose still.

Prawn Notes.

Chapter 1:

German is an Information Swimologist. He fixes Seahorse Maneframes, when CoralDraw stops swimming he fixes it, he does a lot of work for Schools.

Template: Blade Runner

German is recruited by a bounty hunter to help keep his technology going while he hunts down an illegal immigrant, who turns out to be a pistachio pretending to be an oyster. German finds him and before alerting the bounty hunter, the pistachio tells him about the world he comes from and why he left it. The bounty hunter finds them and mortally wounds the pistachio and leaves. Just before he dies the pistachio says “I’ve seen things you crustaceans wouldn’t believe. Shrimps on fire, ofnthe barbie of Orion. I’ve seen sea-horses swimming in the Tanhauser tanks. All these moments will be lost, like salt in sea. Time to die”. German vows to see this Nut world he comes from, especially as he can’t condone the murder of outsiders and leaves.

Chapter 2:

Template: Saving Private Ryan

German arrives at a beach and finds it under attack from sea gulls. He runs into General Prune, who is missing someone named Raisin and asks German to help him find them. It ends with German finding Raisin, who is Prune’s wife. German saves her life and she falls in love with him. Prune sees this and vows to kill German.

Chapter 3:

Template: Star Wars

German runs into Kirk-U, the nit, and Van Cleef, the flea, a bickering pair ala Odd Couple or R2-D3 & 3PO. They have been hired by franZ, a conspiracy theory nut cockroach, to rescue a Date named Star from an impregnable fortress.

Chapter 29:

Template: Empire Strikes Back

FranZ tells the shocking secret about the nut world, that it is artificial, that they are all characters in a digital story. He explains that he was once German’s father Liechtenstein, and that he found a way out of the Nut world. When he returned, he found he had returned as a different character.

Last Chapter (30):

Template 2001

FranZ proves to German that the Nut World is an artificial world, and that there is a larger world beyond. He tells German how to get to the door by following the monoliths, but explains he wont go with German, as he believes that each world is merely contained within another and that he has chosen to stay in this one. Ju-B tries to stop him, explaining that every time he dies, he comes back as the same character. Ju-B acts like Hal at this point. German finds the door and goes through an experience like that at the end of 2001 and

Chapter 1: Blade Swimmer

German Chan was a prawn. He was the middle child of a spawn of 500. He kept to himself and secretly wished for adventure. His wish came true.

German Chan had an inauspicious start to life. When his mother released her eggs into the Chan Family’s traditional mating waters, his father fertilised them and was never seen again. Some of the older prawns challenged the widely held notion that he left to avoid his fatherly responsibilities, after all 500 offspring was unusually high, even for prawns. They claimed he left the water to pursue interests on the land, but as such a thing was looked down upon so German and his siblings generally claimed he was mortally wounded fending off a Great White.

When German was 15, in prawn years, his life changed dramatically when his entire family was eaten by a Great White in one gulp. He, his mother and his 499 brothers and sisters were [and that's all she wrote]
